At the time of this writing there is active talk of getting Powerline and other Nerd Fonts into Cascadia Code, the new font that ships with Windows Terminal. In the short term, you can get a forked version of Cascadia Code called Delugia Code and download that. Cascadia Code has been updated with a PL (Powerline) Glyph version! Download Terminal Font - This is a DOS character with a stylish appearance that is here to replace the old and unfashionable Fixedsys font from Microsoft.
I really like Ubuntu font, so I installed it also on my Mac.
All seemed good at first, using a simple text editor such as TextMate; but when I wanted to use Pages or simply Byword or Ulysses, I realised that something was going wrong with—characters encoding?
Look at this screenshot (the application is Pages):
The text should be, instead, this:
This is a test. Let[U+2019]s use some apostrophes and dashes.
[U+2013] I[U+2019]m goin[U+2019] out with my friends, mum.
[U+2013] What time are you comin[U+2019] back?
[U+2013] About 23 o[U+2019] clock[U+2014]or maybe 24.
That is:
This is a test. Let’s use some apostrophes and dashes.
– I’m goin’ out with my friends, mum.
– What time are you comin’ back?
– About 23 o’ clock—or maybe 24.
Why does this happen? Is there something I can do?

Choosing a font to use in your editor is a very important step in your workflow that many developers don't think twice about. Small things like the difference between
0 vs o or l vs 1 and large things like the readability of the font is key to your productivity and strain on your eyes.
If you are still using the default that came with your editor, it might be worth checking out a few below and see how you like coding with each of them.

Since talking about text editor configuration is a huge interest of mine, This list has been compiled over the last year talking to developers at meetups and on twitter. So while the list isn't totally complete, It's a great reflection of what developers are using these days.
